Finding the right Bauer skate starts with the right fit.
Vapor or Supreme? Orthotics or stock footbeds? Standard steel or upgraded runners? We help players choose a Bauer setup that matches their foot, stride, and on-ice goals.
Fit first. Family second.
Modern Bauer skates use multiple fit profiles, so players should not assume Vapor is only for narrow feet or Supreme is only for wider feet. A proper fit looks at the whole foot and how the player moves. Bauer uses Fitlab, a state-of-the-art scanning system that creates a 3D model of the player's foot. The scan will identify length, width, volume, instep height, and arch shape, as well as new information on pressure distribution and dynamic fitting with gait capture, which can be used to find the right fit for you.
Start with a Bauer Fitlab scan in-store to understand volume, width, arch height, heel shape, and pressure points.
Try the right Bauer Fit profile before choosing Vapor or Supreme. The best skate family still has to match the foot.
Check heel lock, toe feathering, ankle wrap, lace bite risk, and whether the boot feels secure without over-tightening.
Lace snugly, stand and walk a little to judge final comfort. A performance fit should feel snug, not painful.
Vapor vs Supreme
Both families can fit a range of feet. The real difference is how the boot is engineered to support movement, energy transfer, and skating style. Vapor skates flex more in the middle and lower portions of the boot, while Supreme skates flex more in the upper portion. Conversely, the Vapor line is more flexible around the foot for easier lateral movement, while the Supreme remains stiff around the foot to promote stability.

Once the boot is right, the details make the skate feel personal. Orthotics, steel, profile, and hollow can all change how confident a player feels on the ice.
Orthotics
Skate-specific orthotics can improve contact under the foot, support low or high arches, reduce excess pronation, and help a player feel more balanced over the blade.
Learn about orthoticsSteel
Upgraded runners can hold an edge longer, improve glide, and give players a more consistent feel from shift to shift. Steel choice matters most once the boot fit is right.

Profiling changes how much blade contacts the ice and where the player balances. It can help tune acceleration, stability, agility, and forward pitch.

Your hollow affects bite and glide. A deeper hollow gives more grip; a shallower hollow can improve speed and efficiency. The right choice depends on weight, ice, and skating style.
